Paul Matiasic: There have been a few different cases along the way where we thought at the very beginning of the case that there might not be a pot of gold at the end of that particular rainbow and that the client might not be able to get some type of justice because the deck was stacked against them - either the defendant has some type of immunity or, at first blush, there didn't seem to be any documentary evidence to substantiate their claim. We were able to overcome those obstacles because of how thorough we are in our preparation. Part of doing that is having the intellectual and legal agility to adapt to the circumstances in a particular case. That may mean hiring different investigators to go and turn over every rock to make sure we're finding the evidence that we need to effectively prosecute the case or to come up with a novel legal theory...
