On Friday, March 13, a total of 10 male students at Venice High School were arrested under charges of committing unlawful sex acts against 2 female students for over a year.
The case began the Tuesday before when school administrators contacted the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) regarding possible sex offenses involving students. The LAPD said in a statement on Saturday that the safety of students is their number one concern in this case. Because of this, they responded quickly to the report by the school’s administration and began an investigation.
During their investigation, detectives from the LAPD’s Special Assault Section located two victims believed to be victims of a series of sexual assaults that occurred both on and off the high school’s campus. They continued the investigation for another day and eventually identified a total of 14 suspects.
On Friday morning, eight of the suspects were located and arrested on campus at Venice High School by the LAPD detectives and the Los Angeles school police. A ninth suspect was arrested off campus, and a tenth suspect turned himself in. Four suspects have yet to be arrested as of this time.
